Viva XXXII Extra Anejo Tequila
Viva XXXII is the Los Angeles tequila brand of Yvonne Niami, the daughter of Mexican immigrants who founded it to offer a premium sipping tequila at an attainable price and to fund animal rescue: the brand donates 10% of its net proceeds to charities caring for abused and abandoned animals, including spcaLA and the ASPCA, and Phil, the rescue dog mascot, rides on the side of every bottle. The inspiration was Ransom, a wounded dog used in fights that Niami rescued on a trip to Mexico, treated and brought home to Los Angeles. It is produced under NOM 1489 in Los Valles, Jalisco, from single-estate 100% blue Weber agave, with organic and kosher certification. The agave is cooked by acid-thermal hydrolysis with diffuser extraction, fermented in stainless steel without fibers using deep well water, and double distilled in a column still, giving a light, clean spirit that lets the barrel show. The Extra Añejo is aged in American white oak and bottled at 40% ABV, and Tequila Matchmaker tasters consistently log caramel, vanilla, oak and cooked agave on both nose and palate, describing it as smooth and slightly sweet, a soft-edged extra añejo for sipping neat.
