Maestro Dobel 50 Extra Añejo Cristalino Tequila
Maestro Dobel 50 Cristalino Extra Añejo was created by the Beckmann family to celebrate the 50th birthday of Juan Domingo Beckmann Legorreta, the founder of Maestro Dobel. The agave is 100% blue Weber from a single family-owned estate in the volcanic lowlands of Tequila, Jalisco, and the tequila is aged for a minimum of three years in a combination of American and Eastern European oak, which places it in the extra añejo category. It's then run through Dobel's proprietary filtration, which removes the color while keeping the complexity those years in barrel build, and it's bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof). The nose brings caramel, honey and cooked agave with dried fig and quince, plus hints of chocolate, tobacco and sweets. The palate is silky, with fig, quince, date, pineapple, pumpkin, cinnamon and vanilla, and the filtration keeps bitter barrel notes out of a smooth, elegant finish. It's an extra añejo that pours as clear as a blanco, and it's meant for sipping neat or over a single large cube, where the oak-driven sweetness and dried fruit carry the glass.
