Black Butte 5 Year Malt Whiskey

Black Butte Whiskey is a collaboration between Deschutes Brewery of Bend, Oregon, and its neighbor Bendistillery, makers of Crater Lake Spirits. It is distilled from the wash of Black Butte Porter, Deschutes' flagship dark beer, then aged for five years in new charred American oak barrels, turning a beloved porter into a rich, malty whiskey.

The porter's roasted malts and chocolate character come through in the whiskey, layered with vanilla, caramel, and toasted oak from the barrel and a warm, lingering finish at 47% ABV (94 proof). It drinks somewhere between a single malt and a bourbon and is best enjoyed neat or over a large cube; it also makes a superb Old Fashioned. This 750 ml bottle is a limited release and a great gift for a craft beer fan who loves whiskey.
